Forgotten acquaintance
24 April 2011 04:51 pmEaster Sunday.
Every time I hear that I immediately think pastel eggs and neon marshmallows. I should be more focused on more spiritual aspects of Easter though.
Anyways, today I went to church, and I was doing projection again. Kind of failed when I was doing the slides for the skit, but whatever, I don't think anyone really remembers.
Our church is an Asian church, but we do have some Caucasian people here and there. So one of the teacher's nephew came to visit; he's about my age.
The last time he visited was ... according to him, Thanksgiving. Over that span of four months, his hair had grown considerably longer and the style of clothes he was wearing (skater punk) was very different from the last time. He looked so much different, that I didn't even recognize him the first glance I gave him that morning.
I had just finished practicing with the worship team for projection and was taking a quick bathroom break, and lo and behold, he was sitting in the middle of the sanctuary lobby, texting. I was shocked at his presence, (we usually don't see a lot of non-Asian teens around) and walked to the bathroom in an awkward way. I had thought he was just some kid dragged here against his will (unfortunately).
Before walking back to my post, I began talking to him and that was when I recognized who he was. I'm wasn't sure if he completely recognized me though. I'm pretty ashamed that I judged him by appearance.
I kind of wished I could've talked to him a bit more, but I was pretty busy that day. Yeah, I know I shouldn't make excuses, so next time I'll try harder.
