GCT 2 - heavy breaths

altairtherook Another day on my trip to the Grand Canyon. Luckily, things are looking up. The sights were beautiful and the air was somewhat refreshing.
So we had a meager breakfast at our hotel in Alburquerque. It was pretty dull; just some toast with butter and jam, accompanied by a cup of apple juice. Honestly I was not hungry
After breakfast we immediately set on the road, traveling west to Arizona. But before we could stop at Flagstaff, we made a stop at Walnut Canyon. It was pretty amazing, the view. The thrill of walking along the edge of the trail, only with a half-foot to separate you from fatal fall was pretty intense. We saw some historic Native American residences, the residents migrated to far off places.
But on the climb back up, it was more strenuous than I had originally thought. About halfway up the trail I began breathing heavily. Later it was I realized the oxygen was thin here in this high altitude, not because I was out of shape (which I kind of am).

Later we visited Sunset Crater, looking at the interesting igneous rocks. Also we visited this monument called the Citadel (or something like that). Standing at the top was amazing, the world down below and the powerful wind whipping hair all over my face. I felt powerful and awed at the same time.
Interestingly, today's lunch was the best lunch I ever had in a long time. We went to Pizza Hut. Hah, I know it doesn't sound as great as it really was, but I had never had such a great pizza for at least four years, ever since I moved to Texas. To be honest, the pizzerias in Texas suck. Ah, such a wonderful wonderful meal.
Now I'm in the hotel, and the internet connection here is much faster than the one last night. Unfortunately, Expedia didn't give the hotel our credit card number and then they thought that we canceled our reservation. Now we do have a room, but it's a smoking-allowed room. It does smell terrible, but we've sprayed the air and blew out the smoky air.
