Shut down, shut in, boot up, boot out

(✿◠‿◠)

Finally my computer is fixed! One day I left it to sleep and it wouldn't wake again. Not even a force shut-down by holding the power button would work. So I just unplugged it, replugged it, and to my horror, found that the computer wouldn't turn on at all.

Turns out it was the power supply, which was replaced. It's much noisier than the original, but I'm not complaining. The only thing I'd love to complain about is my modem/internet th, which has suddenly decided that my computer no longer deserves a decent connection.

Ah, well, a three-day break from the computer is probably needed, since I've got to finish my homework. At least it gave me a chance to catch some two-hour naps and doodle a little bit.

The goal is in sight

Gawd I'm almost done! I'm at 48352 words right now! One more day to go!
So tired.
Had orchestra rehearsal.
Then homework.
Then dinner.
Then I have to finish typing up this! Gamut is not nearly half over yet!
Ah wells.
Exhaustion.

Mashed Taters

Potatoes today, mmm.
Almost didn't reach the 40,000 word mark. But I finally made it.

Tomorrow's Black Friday, meaning I'm going shopping for a tablet! And my father also promised me a PSP if I can keep up my grades and finish my online coursework. You betcha, I will get this thing. Now just how to figure out how to get Hakuouki Limited Edition... I don't think my parents would appreciate their daughter playing dating otome games with lots of blood in it. And my mom's an anti-demon kind of person. She wouldn't like the "Demon of the Fleeting Blossom" tagline. I mean, she even thought Allen Walker was a demon! I had to explain to her that he was an exorcist but she would not hear any of it!

Anyways, off to practice some Mushishi OSTs on the piano before I go to sleep! Super excited! But I just don't know what to get my parents. =___=

I finally finished all my homework.
And ... yeah.

Brother is off to college. Life, is life.

As the end of summer draws near, I am rushing to finish everything.
  1. Summer reading (60%)
  2. Online P.E. (25%)
  3. Drawings! (40%)
I'm such a fool for being a procrastination. But it's altogether too much tempting. Too much. Been watching anime all summer, ohoho. But that's mostly because there's no time during the school year, which is why I only focus on manga. Ah, I think I'm a hopeless fangirl.

I really miss talking to my friends and I wish to see them soon! On Wednesday I'll be picking up my schedule and hopefully it is what I want.

Well, going to go to eat ice cream!

That procrastination

 It happens a lot.

This year I have two summer assignments. One for English and one for AP World History; Ethan Frome and Guns, Germs, and Steel respectively.

Finished Ethan Frome, but I'm nowhere near the required annotation. Still, I'm planning to reread it the week before school starts (August 22nd).

However, Guns, Germs, and Steel is so thick and heavy, chapters up to 50 pages, maybe more. I don't know how I'll finish this in time, and write a summary with a supplementary picture. I've only done a chapter (plus the introduction) but have about 15 more to go. I'm doomed, all because I'm a stinking procrastinator.

I can't work on it much this week, because my church has an art camp I'm helping out with.

And I also have online P.E., which my parents said I had to finish before school starts.

And so there's little room for finishing my drawings. (Yet somehow I still find time to watch Ao no Exorcist, Tiger & Bunny, No.6, and the likes. Shame on me.)

At least I had the courage to quit scanlating.

Better get going.
This pretty much sums up the reasons I'm not posting as often here on dreamwidth.

Saturday

Slept in until about 10, since this week has been wearing me out. Did just about 2-3 problems of math, practiced a bit of piano, random etc.

We visited some old friends who happened to be in town, or rather, in the town and hour away. We ate out at a great Chinese restaurant, had lots of lovely bamboo shoots and fish.

Later we went to the supermarket. Strangely, they were selling parrot fish at the fresh fish counter. It was strange. I was just walking along, blankly staring at the greys and browns and suddenly there's just this splash of blue and pink. Heh, I wouldn't have dared to eat it unless if the skin was peeled off. It was just too colorful. I did take some pictures, so I'll see if I can get them uploaded.

Sunday

Gave my mom a cd, a blend of soft/summery anime soundtracks.

Had to finish the homework I didn't finish yesterday.

Drew something not in cartoon style. It took 1 hour to get the sketch and 2 hours to do some minor detail. This might take a while...

Well that's pretty much my weekend. It doesn't seem like much but I feel pretty happy.

April showers bring stress

 Hasn't really showered here yet.

Hardly got fooled in April. Pfft.

This weekend I had a church convention. It was pretty fun, and I learned a lot about leadership (which I need) and I did get 4 free t-shirts. Nothing extremely exciting happened.

We're planning a skit as a good-bye present for all the seniors in my church, but unfortunately, we still don't know what to write it about and still have it be funny. And I lack a creative sense of humor...

So many things to do in April. I've just started Script Frenzy, which will take out chunks of my time. Also, I have commissions to work on, homework to do, things to plan, music to practice... I really should get on the computer less. It's no surprise I'm getting only 6 hours of sleep a night, but I should consider myself lucky because many more people get even less than I do.

Ah, life, why do you always cram the most important things at the same time?

Rainless...

Paranoia

On Monday, a basketball hit me in the face.

Of course it hurt, but I just shrugged it off. And my friend, as expected, said, "Oh my goodness, are you ok?" And to which I nodded yes. Strangely, there was something like a bit of food in my mouth. I thought it was a bit of food, since chunks of rice and whatnot always gets stuck in my braces. And I swallowed it. =__=; And then I realized my lip was bleeding (just a bit) and that "chunk of food" was actually a chunk of my lip. How appetizing.

It's all healed now, and now when I think about it, I laugh.

My school bus drops me off at the corner of the street and I walk about half it's length to reach my house. I always ring the doorbell since I'm too lazy to get out my school keys, and graciously, my mother would open the door.

Yesterday I rang the doorbell and began to study my reflection in the screen door. The treated glass is supposed to reduce heat (our house faces west) but it works as a great mirror too. So I practically stood there, staring at myself while waiting for my mom to open the door. What I didn't know was that she was on the other side, watching me stare at myself. And for practically a minute. Boy was I embarrassed...

I forgot to list an article in my "works cited" section of my major English project. I really hope my teacher doesn't notice.

My gracious and good friend linked me to two older horror mangas, Fuan no Tane and Gyo.

Fuan no Tane is the creepiest manga I've ever read. Though most stories are only 3 pages long, it's pretty satisfying. Some don't make sense, but it is good. Now I'll have trouble sleeping tonight.

Gyo is a cheesy sci-fi/horror manga about fish, gas, and mechanical legs. It was interesting for the first few chapters, but after a while, it became very stereotypical and old. But that's to be expected, because it's a pretty old manga... And it totally killed the frightened mood from before.

Cake

 Today is my birthday.

I'm getting a constant flow of wishes to my facebook wall, and it's getting more annoying by each post because most of it is just, "happy birthday XD." Not that I hate it, but really, it just spams up my wall and I'd like them to only post when they want to say something really meaningful.

So I woke at 10, did practically nothing. By 12, I was tired already.

And I attempted to do my English homework. It's so difficult, because we have to write a report about a current issue and support both sides with evidence. And how the hell am I supposed to create a mosaic about Chinese mothers and trending graphic novels?

Really, I've been on the computer forever. And not really enjoying myself that much.

But I'm excited about my birthday gift. I really wonder what it could be!

Except my birthday presents haven't ever been that great. I remember two years ago I got a journal (which wasn't too bad) and a pair of boots. They were pretty ugly boots. I really appreciated the thought, but it was just disappointing. I can't even remember what I got last year.

Ah, four of my friends have already given me really nice gifts. One drew a picture of me in my coat, scarf, bunny hat with a binja from China Mieville's Un Lun Dun. Another friend drew my namesake character, Altair. And lastly (but not least) my Taiwanese friend gave me a phone charm and a bracelet. I'm so thankful that they would even think of me. And another fellow artist drew one of my OCs (who happens to have bunny ears).

I think we're going to eat sushi tonight. Alright! Fatty tuna!

Artmaking

Life seems to be tough this time around in the year.

There's project deadlines, musical competitions, [not very enjoyable] parties [hosted by my parents], birthday gifts, and yes, the dreaded schoolwork. Which I am procrastinating on - my English test is tomorrow and I haven't even studied yet. It's pretty much just over Edgar Allan Poe. Great poet, just very vague. I like his works though.

So I finished two pieces of art today - it makes me feel accomplished.
  1. An art trade card (sort of like an artist's business card, but you collect them) for the Art Club at my school. We're making them for our Valentine's day party, where we'll exchange them. I think I'm going to make another one. I really hope I get a good card too."Blind Love"
  2. A birthday gift for my friend. I was planning to draw a shota (just because he likes lolis) but it didn't turn out exactly shota.
                            Sargon
Yea, you can see that the first one is my new icon.
Ah, sorry for spamming. I just felt so proud that I had to show off my new works.

*Random fact:
For my friend's birthday gift, I used a light purple highlighter which was running out of ink. To color in the right side, I had to lick the tip of it and apply it to the paper. Disgusting, I know, but when you're drawing past your curfew (it happened to be 1 A.M.) and you know your parents would kill you if they found you awake, and you desperately want to finish the piece - what else would you do?

*Random fact two: (from Wikipedia's List of common misconceptions)
A popular myth regarding human sexuality is that men think about sex every seven seconds. In reality, there is no scientific way of measuring such a thing and, as far as researchers can tell, this statistic greatly exaggerates the frequency of sexual thoughts.

Run away

Today I had English homework. (ºдº)

I looked in my outdated Chinese-English dictionary.

ab•scond /ǝb' skɑnd, æb-; ǝb' skɒnd, æb-/ v [I from, with] fml (*chinese characters here*) to go away suddenly and secretly because one has done wrong ...etc, etc.

The thing that did stand out the most was fml.

Why was it in there? Most likely it was some abbreviation to explain the Chinese characters.
Still, it was funny. It does match the description too.

Will be busy this month!

First post!

Maybe this will be my more active blog? Maybe not.

Ah, well, I hope to be updating more soon. I really like how I can customize lots of settings, unlike blogspot.

Teehee. I've got homework to be done and a violin to practice!

~Ciao!
